17 Feb, Remnant Young Men's Group

We added two new young men to the group last night: Josiah and JJ. Welcome gents!

4.5-mile ruck, fire, devotional, food and fellowship.

"The Lord is a man of war: The Lord is his name." Exodus 15:3

When Moses led the Israelites to safety through the parted Red Sea, the pursuing armies of the Pharaoh and all his hosts were buried in the waters and destroyed. As a result of their deliverance from the Egyptians, the Israelites sang the song of praise which is found in Exodus 15: 1-19

"For He hath triumphed gloriously: The horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea. The Lord is my strength and song; and he has become my salvation..."

As Christians, we need not focus on the size of the threat before us, but on the strength of the Lord within us.

We tend to focus on the outward, visible, physical world; troubles, obstacles, challenges. We calculate risk by measuring physical threats and dangers.

But we're focused on the wrong thing. Focus instead on your true source of strength: The Lord is a man of war. For He hath triumphed gloriously! The Lord is my strength.

We need to do less in our own name, and let God be God. "He will smite the nations. He shall rule them with a rod of iron." "He has trodden the wine press alone!"

When the fiery darts come at us, and they will if we're professing the name of Christ, we need to remember, it's His fight; we're just the instruments He uses to stand up to the "principalities, powers, the rulers of the darkness of this world, and spiritual wickedness in high places." Eph 6

David slayed Goliath, a giant with a sword, a spear, and a shield. David had a sling and a stone.

"Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied." 1 Samuel 17:45

What defines us, what gives us strength, is rarely visible on the outside. It's having Christ inside. "The Lord is a man of war. The Lord is his name."
