Another great turnout tonight. 25 men, young and old, showed up for a 3-mile ruck, a devotional, and to celebrate Matthew Blanchard's 17th Birthday.
Solvitur ambulando: It is solved by walking.
Few things are better for the soul than to head out into the woods on foot, especially with a group of like-minded men.

"Yet man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward." Job 5
"Although affliction cometh not forth of the dust, neither doth trouble spring out of the ground." Job 5
Our afflictions are rarely a result of pure chance. We're often a product of our choices. The problem usually isn't "out there"; it's usually right here. You can't outrun it, can't distract yourself enough to escape it. We can change jobs, schools, hobbies, friends, etc. - but wherever you go, there you are!

Part of being a man is holding yourself accountable, accepting responsibility for you actions.
"For whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." Galatians 6
Most of the time, men who refuse to hold themselves accountable and accept responsibility for their actions, are also those that lack humility; They seem to go hand in hand.

Humility: "Freedom from pride and arrogance; modest; submission to God."
(Websters 1828)

If there are a chosen few, then I am not one of them;
if an elect, well then I have not been elected.
    Â
I am one who is knocking at the door. I am one whose foot is on the bottom rung.
But I know that Heaven's bottom rung is Heaven, though the ladder is standing on the earth where I work by day, and at night sleep
with my head upon a stone.

There will always be someone stronger, faster, smarter, more capable, etc. Chasing them down is vanity.
Instead, chase righteousness. Make being "Christ-like" your goal.
While other men are pursuing recognition, wealth, and material possessions, make a decision not to participate in the same game or play by the same rules. Pursue integrity, justice, truth, humility, moral and physical courage.
Purpose in your heart to become a Provider, Protector, and a Servant Leader.
May we not shrink from our purpose!
